VISAKHAPATNAM: Plans are on for joint research programmes and other academic activities between GITAM University and Central Michigan University (CMU) in the US.
Director of MBA programme of CMU Debasish Chakrabarty visited GITAM University on Thursday and held discussions with Vice-Chancellor G. Subramanyam, Principal of GITAM Institute of Management (GIM) K. Siva Rama Krishna and others.
According to a press release, Dr. Chakrabarty was contemplating working with GITAM Institute of Management in the area of joint research, Ph.D. programmes and offering consultancy for industry and faculty exchange for the benefit of both institutions. He visited the HSBC Language lab and said that providing such a conducive environment to enhance the soft skills of the MBA students was essential for their career growth and development on a personal level. While addressing the students and faculty under the GITAM–CMU collaborative MBA programme, he spoke about the abundant opportunities available for the students at the end of the programme. He also said that such programmes would provide the students an edge over the others, which would help them in their future endeavours. Prof. Subramanyam said that the university was giving high priority to industrial interaction to train the qualitative human resource. GITAM University entered into MoU's with UK-based Glasgow University; Burgundy School of Business, Dijon, France and International University of Paris, France.
