HYDERABAD : BC unions on Sunday called for a statewide agitation on September 3 demanding the immediate release of funds to implement the reimbursement scheme for the present academic year.
They demanded that the state government file a review petition in the AP High Court over its earlier orders allowing college managements to collect fees from the beneficiaries of the reimbursement scheme at the time of admission.
Several BC leaders and students on Sunday laid siege to the house of the additional advocate-general, Mr A. Sudarshan Reddy, at Vidyanagar, alleging that he had failed to argue their case efficiently. They found fault with the government for not filing the review petition over the earlier HC orders.
“The government should either file a review petition in the High Court and secure stay orders or it release the funds immediately,” said the president of the AP Backward Classes Welfare Association, Mr R.Krishnaiah.
He also said the students who opted for MBA and MCA this year are tense as the seat allotment list will be released in two days.
“The students will have to pay the fee immediately after the seat allotment is announced. How can parents from poorer sections afford to pay ` 28,000 at such short notice,” said Mr Krishnaiah.
