HYDERABAD: The AP Public Service Commission, on Saturday, announced that the Group-I preliminary exam will be held as scheduled on September 5. The APPSC said that it has no plans to postpone the exam as demanded by some Telangana organisations that are demanding a 40 per cent quota for Telangana aspirants in the Group-I posts. The exam is being held to recruit 198 Group-I officers.
“We discussed the issue with all nine APPSC members on Saturday. It was unanimously decided to go ahead with the exam as scheduled,” said Prof. Y.Venkatarami Reddy, chairman, APPSC.
The Telangana supporters had earlier met the APPSC chairman and submitted a presentation seeking the postponement of the exam until the quota for T-students is approved. They even threatened to obstruct the exam if the APPSC went ahead with it.
The APPSC has requested the chief secretary and the DGP to provide adequate security at all the exam centres.
