HYDERABAD: With all due respect to renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, other well-known mathematicians of the country and their contribution to the field were not getting due recognition, R. Balasubramanian of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences felt here on Friday.
Talking to The Hindu on the sidelines of International Congress of Mathematicians, he stated that it was the responsibility of the country to give due respect and recognition to mathematicians like S.S. Pillai, L.G. Sathe, Meenakshi Sundaram, Vijayaraghavan and others who had contributed to the field immensely in different aspects.
This would only help popularise mathematics in the country and make its teaching attractive, Mr. Balasubramanian noted.
