HYDERABAD : As many as 113 engineering colleges in the state were in crisis this year as less than 100 seats got filled in the convenor quota in the recently concluded Eamcet web-based counselling.
Of them, seven colleges had only 1-10 seats taken up. Another 11 colleges had admissions in the range of 11-20, 25 colleges had 21-50 admissions and 70 colleges had admissions in the range of 51-100.
However, in 338 colleges 201-300 seats were filled. While another 77 colleges recorded admissions of more than 300.
The silver lining is that none of the 652 colleges listed in the Eamcet counselling recorded ‘zero admissions’ unlike MCA colleges in which there were ‘zero admissions’ in 70 colleges.
Eamcet officials have decided to conduct the second phase of counselling from October 5 to fill the vacant seats.
