HYDERABAD: Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao of the High Court expressed anguish at the attitude of a private medical college and the authorities for denying a seat in the MBBS course to a girl belonging to the ST community. He made it clear that the girl must be allowed to attend classes and her admission regularised at all costs. The court was passing these orders in a writ petition filed by a student, Gayatri, who was denied a seat on the ground that she had not paid the fee demanded by the management of MNR Medical College. She contended that the rules did contemplate for such students to pay the fee. After issuance of a notice and hearing the authorities of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, the Court felt that schemes aimed at benefiting such socially downtrodden people were not reaching them.
