TIRUPATI: In what is termed as having a major impact on long-term research, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has sanctioned Rs.9 crore to Sri Venkateswara University under Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE).

The department's Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) announced the incentive grant to 14 universities last year, while 29 more varsities were included this year using publication details from SCOPUS international database for 1998-2008 in a study conducted by National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies (NISTADS), under which the Sri Venkateswara University also got the grant.
