HYDERABAD : The negligence of the state government in adopting the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) that was brought out by the National Council for Education Research and Training (NCERT) in 2005 has been adversely affecting the standards of school education.
As per the NCF-2005, all states should revise the syllabus and publish new textbooks for students from Class I to X. However, the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), which is supposed to draft the syllabus has failed to devise the syllabus for the students of Class VII, VIII and IX for the next academic year and it is unlikely to do so anytime soon. In fact, the government is not even adhering to the NCF guidelines regarding tests and exams.
The NCF advocated doing away with tests and exams but the government has been conducting the same.
Meanwhile, the CBSE has decided to make Class X exams optional for its students.
