Over 700 applications are received by Reddy Jana Sangham every year
Hyderabad: After the death of her husband in an accident, A. Swapna, an attendant at Little Flower School in Amberpet, had lost all the hopes of providing quality education to children, Priyanka and Manoj Reddy.
But thanks to T. Bal Reddy, vice-president of Reddy Jana Sangham, Mrs. Swapna now dreams of proper education for her children. Mr. Reddy donated Rs.10,000 to Mrs. Swapna on Sunday and assured to sponsor the education needs of her children till 10 {+t} {+h} standard.
Every year, the Sangham provides scholarships to students from engineering, medical, master of computer applications and other streams.
Last year, 366 students from across the State were provided with scholarships amounting to over Rs. 22 lakh. Likewise, this year, 312 students were presented with scholarships worth over Rs. 18.5 lakh and this amount was donated by 103 donors across the globe, said Reddy Jana Sangham president S. Challa Reddy. This scholarship distribution programme is being continued since decades. Over 700 applications are received every year of which, meritorious students are shortlisted for scholarships. Financial support is extended to students till the graduation course provided they maintain good record, informed Mr. Reddy.
Students have to file their applications before September at the Sangham office in R.B.V.R Reddy Hostel, Abids.
