VISAKHAPATNAM: Three new post-graduate courses will be started from August in the medical colleges and teaching hospitals and all the teaching vacancies filled through promotions or fresh notification in February. Warangal hospital will get a new Cathlab in its cardiology department very soon.
Making this announcement during the inaugural of a Continuing Medical Education programme on cardiology – Hruday-2011, Director Medical Education T. Ravi Raju said that 373 Civil Assistant Surgeons would be promoted as Assistant Professors, 150 Assistant Professors promoted as Associate Professors in nine specialisations, and 110 Associate Professors promoted as Professors in 14 specialisations.
Equipment valued at Rs.36 crore would be purchased and supplied to all the Government Teaching Hospitals in the State with money coming from the Arogya Sri Revolving Fund.
Some of these promoted doctors would be put in the Emergency Medicine, Transfusion Medicine and Hospital Administration specialisations to be created in all hospitals. Two seats each would be created in the PG initially from this year in the teaching hospitals, he added. One Neonatology, two gynac and paediatric units would be opened in the hospitals to give an impetus to mother and child health care.
