To heighten the tempo of the agitation for a separate state, the TRS president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao, has decided to `jam' the city by filling its streets with a million people on March 10.
As a prelude to this, the TJAC will conduct a massive "rail roko" programme on March 1 and block all trains departing from Hyderabad and passing through other parts of Telangana.
Waxing eloquent on the `million march', Mr Rao said that not even a fly should move in Hyderabad that day. "We will cook food and eat on the roads as a mark of protest against delay in granting Telangana," he said. "Every road should be blocked."
Mr Rao also asked all sections of people including traders, shopkeepers, and government employees to extend full support to the agitation, both morally and financially. To persuade the government staff to come out in support of the agitation, Mr Rao also promised them special Telangana increment after the state was carved out.
Parents and students, meanwhile, are worried about the fate of Intermediate exams set to begin on March 7. Blaming ruling Feb. 26: Blaming ruling Congress MLAs for the delay in carving out a separate state, the TRS chief, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said they too might be accosted like the Lok Satta president and MLA, Mr Jayaprakash Narayan.
Mr Rao has reportedly told senior party leaders that he was confident of the Centre taking a decision on Telangana after March 1.
“We need to put pressure on Centre. If we continue this kind of pressure, the Centre will act,” he said.
Meanwhile, parents and students are in distress fearing that the agitations are likely to disrupt Intermediate exams scheduled to begin from March 7.
