HYDERABAD: Beauty and innocence are two traits that complement each other perfectly and artists across the world have used one of them to boost the other. No wonder, these two themes dominate the creations of budding painters from the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU).

The 100-odd paintings and other creations by the final year students of the Department of Painting, Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), put up at an exhibition as part of the course work, showcased the creative skills of students.

Varied themes

Paintings had varied themes, but the essence was innocence and beauty. If the tranquillity of rural areas was captured by some, so was the effervescence of young boys enjoying swimming with friends in the village wells, by others. The colour of Indian festivals too was sprinkled over several paintings. The printed paper section had the theme on child labour and students came out with some wonderful concepts depicting the disgusting practice.

“The exhibition displays works done on canvas and paper, with oil, acrylic and charcoal,” said B. Srinivas Reddy, principal of the College of Fine Arts, JNAFAU.

Some students displayed cute products made of paper-mache such as bowls, earrings and other usable products. “We are receiving lot of appreciation for the work from visitors,” said Karishma, a BFA final year student. The products are on sale. The exhibition was inaugurated by the JNAFAU Vice Chancellor P. Padmavathi and will be open till April 8.
