HYDERABAD : Eamcet-2011 scheduled to be held on May 8 across the state will be postponed following the decision of the Election Commission on Wednesday to conduct polling for the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies on the same day.
JNTU-Hyderabad, which is conducting Eamcet, is expected to make a formal announcement on Thursday. “We will meet on Thursday to discuss the issue and take a final decision on postponement,” said Prof D.N. Reddy, chairman, Eamcet.
The Eamcet schedule was announced in December last year, after taking into consideration the schedule announced for nationallevel competitive exams like IITJEE, AIEEE, AFMC, JIPMER etc. To change it now, and ensure that its does not clash with the other exams, will be a tough call.
The Eamcet exams were scheduled for a Sunday so that candidates don't have to battle weekday traffic and will be on time for the exam. The next Sunday following May 8 has been taken by the ICET, so the Eamcet will likely be held on a weekday, probably May 9 or 11.
