GUNTUR: Science and technology has played a pivotal role in overcoming challenges during the 21st century, Dean, Department of Sciences, Kaktiya University, SSVN Sharma has said.

Speaking at a seminar at `Hindu Technofest2k11,'' held at Hindu P.G College on Wednesday, Dr. Sharma said that the utility of science was mentioned in ancient texts, and bemoaned the lack of interest among the students of present generation towards science.

He said the clock was turning a full circle given the sluggish demand for IT professionals and asked students to equip themselves with the requisite soft skills along with core competency.

Professor, Department of Statistics, Acharya Nagarjuna University, GVSR Anjaneyulu said that the employment opportunities for qualified IT professionals were still aplenty. Students took part in competitions in Quiz, Debate and paper presentations.

Hindu College Committee, president, SVS Somayaji, secretary and correspondent, MVRK Mutyalu and principal, M.S.S Sai were present.
