HYDERABAD: The minister for secondary education, Mr K.Parthasarathi, on Thursday warned corporate junior colleges they would be derecognised if they publicise and claim state ranking for students in Intermediate exams as this has been disallowed.
Mr Parthasarathi said the government will allow private colleges to publicise the marks of their students but without specifying that they have stood first, second, etc. Embarrassed by reports that results had been leaked, the minister blamed the unhealthy competition among corporate colleges to claim state ranks for the mess.
There were reports that the results appeared on some websites an hour before they were released. The minister has ordered an inquiry into this and initiated stringent action against those responsible, adding that publicising state ranks was misleading parents and students.
“The state government has stopped the announcement of state ranks in Intermedi ate exams long ago with a view to check unhealthy competition among corporate junior colleges. But some corporate colleges still claim state ranks and publicise it widely in the media.
This is in violation of the norms. We request the lecturers, students, parents and all other stakeholders in Intermediate education to bring such instances to the notice of the government to enable it to initiate stringent action against them such as derecognition,“ the minister told reporters after releasing the Inter second year results on Thursday.
