VISAKHAPATNAM: The number of GITAM University campus placements crossed 1,500 during the last academic year with 1,200 B.Tech., 150 MBA, 65 B.Pharm, and 115 MCA pass outs getting jobs. “This would increase in the new academic year and will create a record in Indian Universities”, its Vice-Chancellor G. Subramanyam said here on Saturday.
Addressing the Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad campus placement officers at a review meeting he noted that industrial training had been made mandatory for all undergraduate branches of engineering as per the curriculum and this gave wide exposure to various functions of the industries prior to the completion of their studies. GITAM signed MoUs with TCS, Ericson India Pvt Ltd, IBM, Esai Pharma and NSTL for academic interactions, he disclosed. As many as 106 companies visited the university during the last academic year and most of them were IT companies. Pro Vice-Chancellor D. Harinarayana, Registrar M. Potha Raju, Training and Placement Advisor S.R. Gollapudi, Placement Officers M. Kameswara Rao, Sai Srikanth, Kishan Khaza and Nair participated.
