Rescued from a seed processing factory 14 years ago, K. Sivaprasad graduates from medical college

KURNOOL: Former child labour K. Sivaprasad who was rescued from a seed processing factory 14 years ago in the city has finished his MBBS course on Wednesday.
He will soon join the post graduate course in Kurnool or Hyderabad, as he is likely to get a seat at one of the places based on his rank (74) in the postgraduate entrance test.
Dr. Sivaprasad dropped out from the Zilla Parishad School at Kallur in 1997 to support his family which could not continue his education.
After six months, a team of officials raided the factory for child workers and spotted 12-year-old Sivaprasad struggling to clean and package the seed in the plant.
Soon he was taken into their safe custody. The officials led by Inspector of Factories Sivakumar Reddy took pity on the boy and sent him back to school by providing some financial assistance. Three years later, he topped the SSC examination with 85.3 per cent standing first in the district among government schools.
Highest score
In the next step, he got enrolled in government junior college for Intermediate overcoming all financial troubles as his father was a security guard and mother a daily wage earner.
He achieved the highest score in the Intermediate examination and the subsequent EAMCET securing a seat in MBBS.
After that he never looked back and stood first in the MBBS final year examination and the entrance to PG course.
74th rank
Dr. Sivaprasad who secured 74th rank in the PG entrance was hopeful of getting a seat in Kurnool Medical College General Medicine.
He aspires to become either a cardiologist or nephrologist, which is not a tall ambition considering his track record.
