Architecture, the science of building, is the visualisation of building blocks. It is the area of study which deals with the designing and planning of buildings and structures and the spaces between them. Architecture is a highly competitive and multi-disciplinary profession which involves a variety of tasks at work. This is a field which covers various fields including Spatial Design, Aesthetics, Safety Management, Material Management etc.

Employment Avenues
Architects can work in different settings, in private practice, in the town planning departments of local authorities (Municipalities, Corporations, Housing Boards), in Government Departments (Public Works), Railways, Defense, Insurance Companies, or in a firm of Architects or builders with a continuous programme of buildings or maintenance work.In a private practice an Architect’s client may be an individual, a firm, or a local body. Usually architects who are in private practice, specialized in one kind of building - houses, apartment blocks, schools, offices etc.
While working for a local body an architect’s work involves a wide variety construction works of Buildings - Schools, Swimming Pools, Clinics, Houses, Stadiums, etc. Architects are in great demand with increasing urbanization, industrialization and the increased need for accommodation of all types. Emoluments depend on the type of employment opportunity taken up. Private consultancy in architecture can fetch the highest returns. In a developing economy challenging openings for architects will continue to increase with more emphasis on various types of specialization such as Environmental Planning, Landscape Architecture and Interior Design.
